Corporate Services Manager (deadline: 29 May 2017)

The Corporate Services Manager will be part of the Executive Team, Seefar’s highest level of management. This role has responsibility for managing the systems that support our people to deliver impact through their projects. The ideal candidate will be a highly organised, efficient and autonomous individual with the capacity to handle our expansion as we transition from a start-up to a mid-sized Enterprise. Your work will shape Seefar’s operational structures and processes within all our geographic areas in an intense period of growth. You can live wherever you like and travel will be required.

The Corporate Services Manager role is a newly established role within Seefar, leading the Corporate Services Team. As a member of the Executive Team, you will also provide input and have responsibility for corporate strategy overall. You will report directly to the CEO, and will have responsibility for ensuring that Seefar’s operations run smoothly and efficiently, while ensuring that there is continuing improvement in how we operate. Through a mixture of internal expertise and external service providers, your team provides the platform of processes to produce our best performance, including:

  • Human resources management
  • Financial management
  • Maintaining and planning IT support
  • Providing marketing support to substantive teams
  • Legal and regulatory compliance
  • Providing support to corporate services teams across the Seefar Group, which include subsidiaries in Afghanistan and Indonesia, as well as the charitable Seefar Foundation.

This role will require someone who is smart, intrinsically motivated, worldly, interested in hard challenges and highly flexible and adaptable. The following are the primary responsibilities of the role, with estimated allocations of time and attention.

Deliver: Corporate Services

Approximately 60% of your time and attention:

  • Lead the Corporate Services Team to deliver administrative and operational services, including:
    • Financial management, administration and reporting, including analysis of financial performance
    • Administering human resources
    • Coordinate branding, design and web and social media management
    • Coordinate IT support
    • Legal compliance and review, including for our network of subsidiaries and operating partnerships
    • Government and regulatory reporting
    • Management of project information from across the organisation
Develop: Improvements to Corporate Services

Approximately 25% of your time and attention:

  • Lead the team that coordinates development and testing for new processes and systems, as well as roll-out of new corporate processes.
  • Analyse financial and operational performance to identify opportunities to improve.
  • Work with the Executive Team and project managers to identify current and future needs in corporate services, then prepare the systems to meet those needs.
Direct: Global Management
  • Represent and demonstrate the Enterprise’s values.

Approximately 15% of your time and attention:

  • Contribute as a member of the Executive team, including to design, implement and assess global strategy across the entire Enterprise.
  • Cooperate with other areas of the Enterprise, including to communicate substantive and administrative information that supports corporate management overall. For example, this would include improvements to corporate systems and financial analysis.

Your role will require you to travel. Examples include:

  • Attending face-to-face meetings of the Executive Team and the permanent personnel. From January 2016 to February 2017, your role would have attended for 3-4 days each in Indonesia, Australia, the UAE, UK and Jordan.
  • Traveling to visit project teams/program managers to learn more about our personnel and how they deliver projects, in places such as Belgium, Indonesia, Afghanistan, Myanmar, Denmark and Australia.

To excel in this role, you will start with more than 5 years working in a management role, where your responsibilities in the field of corporate services were diverse. You now want a leadership role and you like the idea of having autonomy to pursue a vision. You have a track record of supervising others effectively. You will have a diverse set of tasks that demands a global vision while requiring your focus on delivering corporate services to our teams. You will be motivated by an Enterprise performance framework focused on social impact.

To succeed in this position, you would start with the following:

  • Experience in an administrative or systems management role, preferably in the international development sector
  • A track record of devising corporate systems in support of a growing organization
  • Enthusiasm for building systems, not just dreaming them up
  • Prior success with executive responsibilities
  • Excellent oral and written English
