Vouching for the small businesses we love during the coronavirus pandemic
Measures put in place to slow the spread of the coronavirus pandemic has had an impact on many of us. More so for small businesses, who often rely on regular income flow to stay afloat, and to pay their staff, suppliers and other regular business costs.
In the latest Business Impact of Coronavirus (COVID-19) Survey (BICS) in the UK released on 23 April 2020, 1-in-4 businesses who responded said they had temporarily paused trading. Over 60% of businesses said they were continuing to trade but with a lower turnover.
To support small businesses, Seefar set up Vouch Potato, a not-for-profit platform in response to the coronavirus pandemic and the subsequent lockdowns worldwide. We love our communities and our neighbourhoods where we are spoilt for choice of cafes, bookshops, bars and restaurants. We love discovering new places to eat, meet friends, and have our weekend brunch.
We have set up Vouch Potato to help some of these places that we know are struggling financially after being forced to temporarily close. We know it takes a huge effort, heart and savings to set up a small business and owners don’t often have stacks of financial resources to fall back on in these times when a business is closed for weeks or even months.
Vouch Potato is now selling vouchers in Dublin, Galway, Glasgow and London.
