COMPLETED PROJECTS:
Missing Migration Links: Connecting Migrants to Economic Opportunities
MML
Afghanistan • Ethiopia
Pintone AI - Faster learning and interaction cycles for social media campaigns.
Summary
In Afghanistan and Ethiopia, Seefar’s MML campaign used Pintone AI to reach over six million people, and Malto, Seefar’s proprietary screening tool, to screen nearly 40,000 potential participants. Trained counsellors delivered 5,341 sessions and referred 2,597 people to livelihood partners. The central finding: it was the combination of trusted counselling and a concrete economic alternative that drove shifts in thinking.
Technology found the most relevant people; trusted conversations changed how they thought about their options.

From Crisis to Hope: Gebretsadik's Story
After a failed irregular migration attempt, Gebretsadik rebuilt his life in Addis Ababa, supported by psychosocial counselling and vocational training.
Reaching the Right People with Pintone
Pintone AI helped the project reach over 6.2 million people across Afghanistan and Ethiopia, far exceeding the original target of 300,000. Using Pintone AI alongside Seefar’s own proprietary technology tool - Malto - the project team screened nearly 40,000 potential participants and helped refine outreach based on engagement patterns, language segments, and campaign testing. In Afghanistan, this led to a strategic shift towards Dari-language content, significantly improving female sign-ups.

Eritrean content creator Siem Medhanie produced a TikTok video encouraging followers to sign up for the project’s counselling service. The video was later reused in the project’s own Meta advertising, helping reach relevant audiences through a voice they already trusted.
Ahmad, 27, from Kabul
Ahmad had made two failed irregular migration attempts before joining MML. Through counselling and referral to an entrepreneurship programme, he launched his own jewellery-making business in Kabul.
