Climate change and environmental destruction is making the lives of the most vulnerable even more precarious.
Seefar’s Climate Mitigation and Adaption services have the dual goal of providing opportunities for vulnerable people while also restoring biodiversity and removing carbon from the atmosphere.
Our Climate Mitigation and Adaptation Programme includes:
Green entrepreneurship in waste management; removing plastic from supply chains and ecosystems; forestry; agriculture; and sustainable product manufacturing.
Biodiversity restoration and rewilding of kelp forests, coastal ecosystems, grasslands and forests.
Training and support to transition to low carbon regenerative agriculture.
Low cost UN CDM carbon credit certification for small projects.
Supporting communities to generate income from voluntary carbon markets.
Seefar’s mission is to provide opportunities for vulnerable people to advance themselves. This drives our approach to Climate Mitigation and Adaptation. Our development projects are targeted towards populations at risk of displacement or migration; social exclusion and/or exploitation and slavery.
These populations often require additional support in order to benefit from the opportunities of climate programming. Seefar’s Livelihoods Model is a proven approach that incorporates mental health, resilience and confidence building as essential components of adapting to new livelihoods opportunities.
Seefar’s Livelihoods Model has generated significant impact. In one project where we have deployed this support, 95% of highly traumatised beneficiaries in a project in India have successfully retrained and are earning sustainable income from sources that not have been otherwise attainable for them.
