Africa’s Sahel region faces many complex challenges arising from instability, food shortages and climatic variations. Denmark has a long history of contributing to national and international efforts to reduce these challenges. In recent years, this has included a Regional Peace and Stabilisation Program for the Sahel, covering Mali, Senegal, Niger and Burkina Faso. Seefar has been supporting Danida through an evaluation of the program in the Sahel. The program has committed funds to three organizations working on rule of law and organized crime,  improving border security, and conflict mediation and resolution. Seefar will evaluate the performance of the organizations and provide substantive and administrative recommendations on whether, and how, Denmark should continue their support. This will be informed by a mixed-methods evaluation comprising interviews with stakeholders as diverse as government officials and institutions, and direct beneficiaries across the four regions.
