Identifying Migration Misinformation and Rumours: Research from the Learning, Awareness and Counselling for Empowerment (LACE) Project along the Central Mediterranean Route (2023–2024)

As part of Seefar’s mission to empower informed migration choices, our latest research report examines the root causes and ripple effects of migration misinformation across Niger, Nigeria, and Tunisia. Drawing on over 2,000 voices through surveys, focus groups, and interviews, this multi-country study sheds light on how rumours, informal networks, and digital content shape migration decisions. The findings offer a nuanced view of trust, influence, and aspiration and highlight opportunities to equip communities with credible information and viable alternatives. Explore the findings to better understand how misinformation spreads, and what it means for migration communication strategies across West and North Africa.
