Migration communications in Africa

Seefar has been working in North Africa, East Africa, the Horn of Africa and West Africa continuously since we were created. Our East African and North African presence is one of our biggest, with teams working on multiple projects including research and surveys, program design, consulting, counselling, evaluating programs and strategic communications. West Africa is also a test-bed for pilot initiatives we are developing to help deal with overlapping issues of human trafficking and modern slavery, social inclusion and migration.

Seefar’s understanding of the communications landscape in East Africa and North Africa and how it can generate behaviour change is unrivalled. Seefar is currently implementing multi-channel migration communications campaigns in six countries in Africa involving:

  • Community counselling
  • Counselling hotlines
  • News media
  • Mass media
  • Online and social media
  • Radio dramas
  • Comic books
  • Community engagement

We believe that when done well, strategic communications support beneficiaries to make more informed decisions while simultaneously achieving donor objectives.
